What Detectability does

Detectability models the gravity and magnetic anomaly of a described target and compares it with instrument and field noise. It gives information for planning a survey; it does not carry out a survey, take payments or act on your behalf. The website, the HTTP API and the app for ChatGPT and Claude are free and read-only.

What the results mean

Results are model-based expectations under the assumptions stated with every result: simple target shapes, flat topography, a homogeneous host, typical rock properties unless you give your own, and the noise you enter. They support survey planning; they do not replace site investigation, measurements or the judgement of a qualified professional, and the author is not liable for decisions made on the basis of them.

Licence

The Detectability software is open source under the BSD-3-Clause licence: you may use, change and share it, including commercially, provided the copyright notice is kept. It is provided without warranty. Please cite it with its DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.23931815.

Fair use

The API and the app are rate-limited so that everyone can use them. Do not try to overload the service or to use it to collect data in bulk; for heavy use, install the library and run it yourself.
